HOUSTON - Brooke Monahan, 9, a huge Alex Bregman fan, was so excited to buy a custom jersey that read: Mrs. Bregman.
The child was with her mother, Elizabeth Monahan, when the two made the purchase inside a shop at Minute Maid Park. When the girl requested the shirt read "Mrs. Bregman," her mom said it caught the ear of the attendant who claimed it 'was a first.'
Brooke posed in the shirt, and her mother sent the picture to her husband who was in another part of the ballpark.
Her father just happened to be sitting behind the real Mrs. Bregman, Alex Bregman's mother. Elizabeth Monahan says the woman saw it and wants to meet Brooke at Game 4.
"It was fate," Elizabeth Monahan said.
Monahan family members are devoted Astros fans and have season tickets. For the ALCS, they had an opportunity to buy other seats and were sitting in separate sections. They will be attending Game 4, also at Minute Maid Park.
Brooke became a fan of Bregman's last June at a baseball camp he taught at Fort Bend Christian Academy. She even took a picture with him.
Now the girl is really excited about the Astros successful season, and Bregman's continued success. Maybe she'll get to meet him again to sport her new jersey.
